As I near the two-month mark in Minnesota, I’m finding myself adjusting to a lot of “firsts.” This is my first time working from home full-time. It’s Niko’s first time in preschool–being away from home for full days (!!!). It’s my first time without my closest friends nearby. And, it’s the first time–in a long time–that I didn’t have a calendar with future shoots. Occasionally, I’ve dusted off the camera to take a few pictures of Niko, but the camera quickly returns to the shelf.

So, this brings me to another first: my October Photo-A-Day Challenge! It’s a personal challenge to myself, and to you,  to put your cameras (this includes your iPhones 😉 ) to good use every day next month.

Here’s how it works:
1. Grab a camera. (see? this is easy already!)
2. Snap a picture that corresponds to the day’s theme (list of themes is below)—the way you interpret the theme is up to you!
3. Share the photo! —this can be done in a few ways: post it on my Facebook wall–click on the Facebook icon at the top of the website– (I would LOVE to see them!), share them on your own pages for your friends and family to see (I might not see them there), or share on Instagram (use #RFPhotoChallenge )….or ALL three!

Why?
At the end of the month, you’ll have an amazing collection of images to look back on…even if  you forget when life gets a way from you for a few days…or a week 😉

What do you do now? 
Share this post and this list! At the end of the month, I’ll select my favorite photo of someone local–the winner gets a complimentary shoot! And if you’re not local? Don’t fret! I still want you to participate! I’ll select my favorite photo from the non-local bunch, and I’ll have it printed (and shipped to you) on a medium of your choice! If you want me to see your photo, you’ll have to upload it to my page (as described above)–and if you upload to Instagram, use the hashtag for me to track them!
