There’s nothing more exciting (and terrifying) for a mom than her baby’s first birthday. It marks the beginning of so many things…and the end of so many things.

Are the still babies? Or are they toddlers? Should they have a big birthday party that they will never remember? Or a small family gathering?

One thing’s for certain…there should be cake. And they should get to smash it.

Emma’s first birthday was bittersweet. It was so fun to get the chance to capture this little ball of joy as she prepared to celebrate her first year! She may not have destroyed the cake, but it was still adorable beyond words.
