It’s with great joy that I get to present this space!

Is it the best space in the world? No. Does it have everything I ever wanted in a studio space? No. It’s it the most beautiful thing you’ll ever see? Uhhhh…no.

But it’s mine. And it’s not in my basement. So, let’s start with that.

This past summer, when I was all sorts of pregnant and uncomfortable, I scored my first out of home studio space. I didn’t post about it hear because, well…it wasn’t much to write home about.

For starters, the building I’m located in is so unsuspecting of a photography studio. It’s main function serves as a UHaul business and Mini-Storage — both located on the first floor. But the upstairs, once home to the office spaces of the business ran below, is now rented out to local small business owners (including a couple makeup artists, and…a church!). But…it’s just not what you expect when you drive up. My original space was an old conference room. And when I say old, I mean old. Wood paneled walls. Blue carpet. Dark.

But, I made do. I held many shoot there and no one seemed to mind too much. I decorated as nicely as I could, but even still, I just didn’t love it.

And then another space opened up, on the other side of the building. A space with hardwood floors and multiple windows with natural light. And even though it meant an increase in rent for me, I jumped at the opportunity to make it mine. After a coat of paint, and a big trip to ikea, I was able to transform the room into a perfect little photography haven over the weekend!

And, for the first time since I moved to Minnesota, I was able to shut of my studio lights and use the wonderful and beautiful light coming through my windows ??
